• Hi,

I’m contacting Imagify, WP Rocket, and Autoptimize to see who might know what is happening on our site. But also thought I should post here too to see if anyone can help.

See this URL: [ redundant link removed ]

    – The edit view when logged in is centered image.
    – The logged-in screen on the front end is misaligned left.
    – The non-logged in screen is back to center.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

  • Hi @tonyzeoli ,

There might be any caching issue I suppose. I am seeing all the images aligned center.

I will suggest you to test in private browsing mode or on another browser.

Not much to go on here. You didn’t include an image of a logged-in page showing the problem but…

I’m wondering if maybe it has something to do with an edit button that some themes add for the admin user or does this issue occur also with subscriber-level users (those who can’t edit content)?

Sometimes the added info for admins can disturb the layout…

I tried to look at the page to see what theme and plugins you were possibly running but AutOptimize plays havoc with the system I have for doing that.

I doubt it’s the plugins but it could be the theme or something like I mentioned about. You might also login and then use the health check plugin to turn off plugins one by one to see if the problem persists.

I guess it could be a CSS selector for page presentation when there’s a logged in user present.

First, since you’re using Autoptimize along with WP Rocket you need to make sure settings in WP Rocket related to JS/CSS minification, optimization, etc. are disabled. Autoptimize should already be processing those, and you don’t want both of them trying to optimize files. That will cause problems.

Second, depending on your settings, both plugins are usually set to have caching and other features disabled for logged in users. So in the frontend, you would be seeing optimized and cached files when you’re logged out. I would disable both Autoptimize and WP Rocket plugins are see if the alignment issue goes away or continues to be misaligned. That should give you an idea if any of those plugins are causing the issue.

jnashhawkins; you can disable Autoptimize on a per-request basis by adding ?ao_noptimize=1 to the URL ??

    hope this helps debugging,
    frank (ao dev)

@jnashhawkins Sorry, if you clicked on the image I posted, you would go to CloudUp to view all.

Here’s the better version of that: https://cloudup.com/cNpw-bPoNr8

@supporthero I did disable both and I don’t have any modification settings on in WP Rocket where Autoptimize is handling it.

I see it now but I’m not seeing anything that would cause that…

I’m still wondering if it is something slightly different (like an edit button) but I can’t see that in the image. It could even be a footer code or sidebar widget that is different between a logged-in user and a visitor.

Starting to wonder about caching too but I’d dismissed that thought earlier.

Maybe you could run twin monitors for a bit or two browser windows side by side in your monitor and compare the two versions… Logged out and logged in?

Can you also look for differences in the CSS codes used when logged in and logged out? Use the Inspector functions in a Chrome or Firefox browser.

And one more thought… Could you swap in a generic theme for a bit… Twenty Thirteen is my goto theme for doing this kind of test. Twenty Seventeen is another good generic theme. Actually both of those themes and their offspring get used here at my shop quite often.

One another thought yet would be… Does Adsanity turn off or change ads for logged in users?

I just noticed the ads don’t work when I extend the URL with the bit of code @optimizingmatters provided to turn off AutOptimize on a given page (and thanks for that bit of code Frank!).

No, I don’t think AutOptimize is causing this problem. I just noticed something and remembered something else from an ad server years ago where that ad server could suspend ads for certain users.
