Image always a little larger than supposed ?

  • I’ve noticed a strange little issue, I’m not sure if it’s been there before or not since I haven’t paid that close attention to image prior to 2.5.x since before they “just worked” and now they usually don’t so I have to tinker and tamper with the generated code to make it work.

    Anyway, what I wanted to check is this. I have an image, I make sure it is 450 pixels wide. I upload it in the wordpress gui, and insert it into a post (full size selected), the auto generated code also inserts (a completely unnecessary) width=450 pixels tag, so far so good.
    But when viewing published post and right clicking on the image and choosing properties the image size is 464 pixels wide, not 450 ?

    So I thought maybe I made a mistake and tok the original image, shrunk it to 550 pixels, then repeated the procedure of upload and insert into post, the new image properties when viewed in published post said 564 pixels, not 550 ?

    Is this new to wordpress 2.5 and if so a possible bug, or has it always been this way and it’ss just me that haven’t noticed before ?
