When I add media (simple image with caption) in classic editor the caption shortcode is stripped out. I deactivated all other plugins, etc. and tried various settings in the plugin. I am using the Neve theme. I do find that after I add the image, the caption is in the flow of the text since there is no shortcode anymore but if I then edit the image (clicking on the image now in the post) I can add the caption in the pop-up. Any clue to this? I am willing to dig in somewhere if helpful.

I’m not clear that this has anything to do with WP Accessibility; the plugin doesn’t do anything with image captions or shortcodes. Does this problem stop happening with WP Accessibility disabled?

Only happens when the plugin is enabled. I now have a bit more information … using the Classic Editor, it happens when in Visual mode, but all works in Text mode.

In other words: Plugin active, using classic editor in the visual tab, when I add a picture from the library, no caption shortcode wraps the image. I go to text tab, adding a picture leaves the caption shortcode. I then disable the plugin and it works in both tabs.

I’ve pinned this down; might be tricky to solve, but I’m exploring.

Will gladly help in anyway I can. Thanks!

Got it. It was fairly easy to fix the problem that was breaking the caption shortcode; but also keeping the accessibility warnings intact for missing alt texts, etc., was more challenging.

This won’t release immediately; I have another major project for WP Accessibility that’s about 75% finished, and I’ll need to finish that first. Probably a week or so.

Great news, great plugin. Again, if I can help or test or whatever, reach out.
