I have attempted to use this plugin on several sites, and it’s been unsuccessful. (I just gave one of my websites above, where this plugin is definitely needed!) There is an issue where you go in, open the ‘crop featured image’ settings – everything looks great, chose the area to crop, hit SAVE, but when you check it, the crop is not saved. I even attempted to tweak the settings of the uploads folder permissions (tried 755, 775, 777) Other than that, I would be open to additional direction on what this problem might be related to, and how I can resolve this. This is a great, and necessary plugin for modern blogs and websites that utilize all this fancy image sizing.

As far as i could see, your theme do not use any cropped images. Instead the theme use its own crop system (bfi_thumb) which will always use the the same region of the image.

Have a look to the crop thumbnail editor what image-sizes are shown to you and what are the names?

A solution for your problem may be to use the wordpress image editor to crop the original image.

I was suspecting that the theme I was using has a different image display system than what this pluggin uses. That aside, this pluggin displays all the various image sizes, and allows you to go through the motions of selecting the area. Why does it do that instead of producing some message (ie: ‘image will not save due to…’ or ‘images will not display with this theme…’.) It seems if we could route the css rules and access the theme’s image file, this would work. I am assuming by default that it only works with default native wordpress image files.

There is a long page of standard wordpress image sizes displayed in the crop thumbnail editor, too many to list. Interesting that all that works but saving is disabled.
