Image doubled?
-
Hi all,
I just installed your plugin and, once I tried to verify the output with GTMetrix, I noticed this alert:
The following resources have identical contents, but are served from different URLs. Serve these resources from a consistent URL to save 1 request(s) and 532.3KiB. https://www.recensione.biz/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/AAA-recensori-cercasi-800x500.png https://www.recensione.biz/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/AAA-recensori-cercasi-800x500.png?resolution=592,2
So, it seems as the plugin doubled the images: one scaled and one original.
Do you think it could be considered as an issue? How can I solve it?Thank you in advance for your kind response.
-
Hello, there,
Yes, it is indeed an issue! You have probably enabled the CDN feature, right? Well, if you don’t actually have a CDN you do not need it. From what I can understand you don’t.
Also, even if you have a CDN and you do need it, then this issue was one of the reasons that this feature is mentioned as “experimental”. However, event this is now fixed in version 0.6.1! Do the latest update and tell me how it works.
Cheers,
TakisThank you for your prompt reply. I already fix this issue thanks to your suggestions.
Just another question: I installed your plugin to serve server scaled images in order to increase my site speed.
GTMetrix, however, told me that:https://www.recensione.biz/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/AAA-recensori-cercasi-800x500.png is resized in HTML or CSS from 800x500 to 330x206. Serving a scaled image could save 441.8KiB (83% reduction).
Do I have to change the plugin settings, or the plugin behaviour is correct?
Hmm, I do spot a problem here!
All your settings seem correct, but indeed your images are not being resized. They are not being resized at all! It is not just a problem of that particular image that you mentioned.
However, the plugin is generally active and working. For instance, you can see here https://www.recensione.biz/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Honor-4x-hand-800×500.jpg?resolution=480,1 and here https://www.recensione.biz/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Honor-4x-hand-800×500.jpg?resolution=640,1 that the plugin is working. But this is a “debugging” way to view the images, not the straightforward one. It is also used in the CDN feature, but this is neither your case.
Could you please give me the following information:
- The output of the Print debug button
- The output of the Print diagnostics button
- The output of the Calculate size button
Sorry, for the trouble, but I think we have encountered an edge case here.

Unfortunately, all the above info seems correct and as expected. I need some more debugging, but this is not something I can ask from you right now, because I would need access to your server. I am going to add some code to the plugin and publish a new version right away, so we can further debug this.
I would really appreciate it if you could help me with that to track down the problem!
Cheers,
TakisOf course I will!
It’s my pleasure to get this solved. Thanks,
JocelynThank you very-very much!

Takis
Hey, Jocelyn,
Just noticed this: Your website is sending a cookie named “__cfduid” and this is usually sent by CloudFlare (https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/200170156-What-does-the-CloudFlare-cfduid-cookie-do-). CloudFlare is a CDN! Are you sure you are not using CloudFlare as a CDN?
(Also the responses from your server have a headers that says “Server:cloudflare-nginx”.)
I obviously use it to speed up my blog. I cached all my resources there.
I use it to minify JS, HTML and CSS too.
I flagged indeed the CDN option into Image Optimizer. But due to this choice, as you already know, my images were doubled.
So, now, what to do?Well, OK, this is great but not the most usual case. Most websites do not have the luxury of a CDN.
At first, I thought that you were not actually using a CDN and that you had enabled the CDN option by accident. Of course you need to enable the CDN option. The double image issue is fixed in version 0.6.1. Do you have version 0.6.1?
I must mention that the CDN option is a little bit experimental for now. It does not cause any troubles. It just achieves a little less than perfect.
PS: So sorry, for the misunderstanding, I probably should have explained this better in the first place. ??
consider Cloudflare offer a free solution, that is the one that I’m using.
Let me understand: do I have to flag the CDN option again in Adaptive Images for WP?
But, this way, Won’t I risk to have the duplicated images again?
Obviously I have the 0.6.1 installed on my WP.I see that they do have a free plan indeed!
Yes, you need to enable the CDN option again in the Adaptive Images settings. Let me answer now to your original question again, as if this conversation never actually happened. And, again, sorry for circling around.
So:
First I would like you to enable the CDN option and then perform a cache cleanup in the CDN in order to have a clean case to test. Then, please let me know me and I will take a look to see if the double image issue persists. You see, we were pretty sure we fixed it in version 0.6.1.
However, even if it does still happen by accident it is a very slight problem, that should not worry you much. It may only happen for images that download only too quickly and this is almost good enough already! As I said before it has been fixed now and, if there is still a bug there, we will spot it.
One last thing. This whole feature was kind of experimental so far. In the next version (0.7.0) we will make it a lot more stable. This version will be published soon.
Cheers,
Takisnothing happens: I got the same problem with duplicated imaged, even if I purged the cache in Cloudflare servers:
