Image Editor Changing Image Title When Uploading?

  • Over the course of the last few days, I’ve noticed a weird change when uploading images to my blogs. I recently updated to the most recent version of WordPress and also updated to all the most recent plugins, so I’m not sure when or where this change occurred.

    When I upload images now in the Image Editor, the Image Editor is overwriting the format of the titles that get filled in for each image. For example, if I try to upload “Big Blue Sky.jpg”, Image Editor by default is filling in the title field with “big-blue-sky.jpg”. I don’t like this formatting at all, and it’s a real pain to have to change the title of each picture, as I tend to upload dozens of images every day.

    Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or what I can do to disable it? Is this a feature built into the new WordPress version?
