• I’m not great but not terrible at html and wordpress, but this issue really has me stuck.

On my website, https://www.rovesandroams.com, pretty much all the images aren’t loading. I have no idea why, and what the error symbol means that has replaced them..see here https://www.rovesandroams.com/text/

All the files in my media folder are still there, but also show this error symbol.

I have updated all my plugins, and WordPress too and really can’t think of an answer.

Please please help, even if you only know what the error means!

    Many thanks!

    Lucy

  • Just reset your permalinks and see what happens.

Thank you for your suggestion Krishna.

I tried it, but it just gave me another error ??

Try deactivating all the plugins, delete the inactive plugins and revert to Twenty Eleven theme and see if the problem still persists.

    @rovesandroams

AVG antivirus alerted me to a possible javascript exploit being present when your site loaded the first time, however checking your site with the Sucuri scanner didn’t reveal anything helpful in that regard.

    https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/www.rovesandroams.com/

The rather generic AVG alert seemed to be indicating a possible “Black Hole Exploit Kit” type of issue.

As far as the images go, the server responses contain 404 errors for a lot of your images. Your 2012 uploads directory seems to be missing the folders for months 05, 06, and 07. That would explain the 404 errors, because the missing image urls seem to be looking in the 05, 06, and 07 directories. They just aren’t there.

[edit] ..you can protect those directories from casual browsing with an “Options -Indexes” entry in your .htaccess file.

Thanks so much Clayton – what a thorough answer ??

I see what you mean about the directories list; I don’t know how to fix this without just removing all the images from my previous posts and uploading them again. They seem to be lost forever on my wordpress!

I’ve never heard of the Black Hole Exploit Kit…will research that and see if I can fix it.

    Huge thanks again!
