    Hi,

I’m using the Gutenberg editor with the twenty twenty four theme and the default pods blocks.

When using the field value block, an image field only outputs as a url. This happens on single images as well as multiple select.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Thanks,
    Ross

In testing, editing the field settings in Pods Admin, under the File / Image / Video Options tab, checking the second-to-last option Output as a WP Gallery will cause the Field Value Block to output a WordPress Gallery from the field. If that option is unchecked, the field will output as the URLs to the associated media items.

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for your response. I’m now having a little trouble styling the WP gallery, but that’s not your issue. However, may I suggest that the wording for your documentation be changed?

Under ‘How to display’ the documentation says ‘By default, Pods will not link to the file URL when displaying. It will display as an image if the media type is an image. Otherwise, nothing will be displayed if there is no image representation of the attachment.’

I’m possibly just misinterpreting, but I’ve read that as, with default settings, it will display as an image, rather than a link.

    Many thanks,
    Ross

    Thanks Ross.

In testing, it did display as a gallery by default / initial configuration.

Perhaps the box got unchecked at some point, or a setting carried over from an earlier version?

Best of luck styling. Note there are also plugins in the directory for changing default WordPress galleries to things like lightboxes, as well as PHP filters for modifying the output of galleries and blocks generally.

    Hi Paul,

Ah ok thanks, I’ll do some more thorough testing myself on a new install and figure out where I went awry.

Thanks for the styling tips! I’ll probably go the plugin route this time.

    Once again, many thanks,
    Ross
