• Hello!

I’m working on a website to be used as a virtual programme for an outdoor performance so practically everyone viewing the page will be viewing it on mobile.

I have created an image gallery of headshots near the bottom. My first issue is that no matter how many times I crop the thumbnail images I still have off-center faces, is there a fix for this? Sometimes it will appear fixed in my media library but not push through any update to the gallery.

My second issue is that I would like it to easily display both photo and names in the lightbox on mobile but at least on my iPhone I have to counterintuitively scroll down to see the image titles. And the swipe to view the next image is very touchy as well.

    Thanks in advance!

  • You didn’t say what kind of gallery you are using (gallery shortcode, gallery block, plugin gallery) or what kind of lightbox.

This plugin helps with focus points for cropping: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/my-eyes-are-up-here/
although I thought there was a recent block editor enhancement to let you choose a focus point in images (I’ve never used it).
For the lightbox, it seems like that has to be a plugin (I don’t think core offers that for galleries), so you should ask in the plugin’s support forum for any problem with that.

    Hi, thanks for your help!

I think I’m using the Jetpack > Tiled Gallery > Square Tiles block (and the jetpack lightbox to go with it I believe). I did give that plugin a go and while it does update the thumbnails it doesn’t push those edits through to what is displayed in this gallery.

    Thanks again!
