• Hi all. I promise I have spent days trying to get this to work on my own, but to no avail.

I am trying to get the title, description, possibly alt text and or caption to fade into view when I hover over a thumbnail within a gallery.

I just have had no luck at all.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide.

    Terry

  • some totally different approach:

if you install the plugin ‘jetpack’ and activate the ’tiled galleries’ and the choose ‘square tiles’ for your gallery, you’ll get a similar hover effect for the captions.

(any formatting adjustments might be quite difficult)

Andrew: I will look more in depth at this link.

Alchymyth: I installed jetpack as you suggested but as you probably know it will not allow me to make a consistently sized grid that I need and I couldn’t figure out any way around that. But it does do pretty much what I wanted in terms of showing the caption in a nice way.

    To you both:
I think I have made a little more progress. I have my caption showing within the image on hover. if you go to here and you hover on the first image of the cheeseburger you will see. There are a couple of tweaks I would like to make if you could point me in the right direction. One, a fade in would be nice. I saw the fade in in the jq effects but did not know where it went in the jq. Second, the caption and gray background is on top of the image link and I need it to be clickable so that the person doesn’t have to go above the panel in order to click the image and go to the slides.

    Thanks for your help.

All that example is doing is first hiding the description, then showing it. In the process of showing it, it slides it upwards.
