• Hi all

Need a bit of help. I’m starting off a simple design for a client. Because they are using a tall logo, I thought it would be a good idea to use Twenty Eleven with sidebar on right and place the image inside.

Everything was working fine and logo showed correctly. Then I changed the home page to static (looking at having info, about us and then adding store). The logo has gone and I can’t for the life of me work out why.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks, Dan

  • Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of assistance.

Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. Create a child theme for your changes.

Right now, it looks like you’ve pulled the header/banner code from the header on a static Page.

Sorry, I know should be using child. This was just setup as a quick test to see if the method would work. When I start live site, it will be done properly.

All I did was remove header image and text, remove all widgets and meta from sidebar and then insert image from ftp.

As I say, worked without specifying static page (even tested and went back to latest posts layout and worked again).

    Confused doesn’t come close…

So you did remove the code for the header image? And what do you eman by “then insert image from ftp”?

Just uploaded image to ftp server and placed direct link to it insude sidebar.php.

Didn’t remove any code from header, just said ‘Remove Header Image’ button on header options in theme.

    Sorry if being a pain.

    1. Why are you adding a header image to the sidebar template file?

    2. There is no sidebar on static Pages in the Twenty Eleven theme.

Number 2 has answered it. I’ll switch it now so you can see what I mean and don’t think I’m nuts.

I wanted to just use a long logo image to run down the side of the page, with all content on right. Thought the best way was to place in sidebar file. Looks how I wanted it when it works (or it will after I buggered around with menus, etc.)

Thank you for your help, I’ll have to think up something else…
