Image instead of default checkbox

Hi! I’m trying to get images instead of checkboxes. One image as default/not selected checkbox, anoter as selected. I was trying to do this with CSS using background-image for checkbox and label but can’t manage this to work. Is there any way to do this with CF7 addons or CSS? Solutions like this:

are not working with CF7 for me. Will appriciate any suggestions. Thanks!
