Image links (attachments and media) don’t work today

Several longstanding websites, using different themes, some with no plugins, same issue today suddenly:

images that usually link to attachment.php or media (lightbox) don’t. Instead they link to the image file in the library (grey page with image only).

Is not the theme, because one site at least with a same theme is not affected.

Anyone know what is going on?
