• I am new to WordPress although I am a user on another site so am used to loading and using media – with no problem although I don’t know anything about the setup or version in use..
However, I have now set up s new site and am trying to load media.

    I have 2 problems:

    1. I can load the media and it looks like it is there but the thumbnail doesn’t show. It isn’t in the directory when I look via FTP. When I add it to the FTP directory manually, it works perfectly.

    2. When I try to add an image to use as a Header, it will only let me use an image from my pc. It looks like it is loaded but shows a broken image and nothing is there.

I have been reading lots of posts and thought it might be File Permissions. However the permission for the directory in question is 755 which I thought should be OK.

Can anyone suggest what I should be looking for?

I forgot to say that I have followed the advice to reload all files in the wordpress directory and it didn’t make any difference.

I just haven’t a clue what to try next.

I raised a ticket with the hosting company. I then discovered that I could add pdf media but not jpg not gif media.

Anyway, the server logs showed some errors relating to permissions having come from the upload script.

    Any ideas why?
