    Hi,

i have a problem with the plugin not using the geolocation information of images attached to posts: Everything works fine when i upload posts (including images) with the WP mobile client, so the geolocation information submitted by the client can be used and the location gets displayed on a map (on an extra page).

Unfortunately, posts submitted by a webbrowser or by email (both including images) don’t get referenced on the map, so it seems that the GPS information contained in the images are not interpreted. The appropriate checkbox in the settings is set, the images definitely contain location information (EXIFs checked).
Entering addresses manually also works fine, the problem only occurs when the geolocation of attached images should be used.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

Please, tries again to use the EXIF tags on images, but this time, you should upload the image to WordPress, directly through the “Add Media” button corresponding to the post/page, but do not select an existing image in the Media Library.

Thank you for using our plugin!

    Hi,
thank you for the reply! ??

I finally got it working – sort of. The problem was that the compiled-in EXIF-reading in php5 wasn’t activated in Debian Jessie, uncommenting the line

    exif.encode_unicode = ISO-8859-15

in /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini and a restart solved the problem – posts with geotagged images now show up on the map.

    But…
    1. It only works with freshly uploaded images directly in the post via webinterface. It doesn’t work with linked images from the media library.
    2. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with posts sent to the blog via email – this was the main reason why i was going for this feature (all wordpress-apps for iOS i know are somehow crappy, especially when writing an post offline).

Do you see any possibility to get the geodata used by the plugin when the pictures/posts aren’t uploaded/sent via web-interface?

    Best,

    Hi,

I’ll check the plugin to use the geolocation data of the images in the Media Library, in the case of the WordPress App, the geolocation of images should work, however, for the posts published through WordPress App you can include the geolocation information directly in the posts.

    Best regards.
