Image not used with Social buttons

sorry for the late response. I was out of town.
Can you show me the site?

Maybe it has to do with timing of when I made posts vs when I installed the plugin?

This post seems to work correctly:

If you press the Facebook button it shows our default image as the featured image.

But the post before it does not:

Neither one appears to have a featured image when I edit it, so I don’t know what the difference is.

Can I get old posts to pick up the default featured image?

Possible the Genesis theme is interfering? I see there’s a similar plugin that is specifically designed to work with Genesis.

I strongly suspect it is a jetpack issue. I see it in the source code.
Only the podcast does not have a image. The other two have this image.

I will test Jetpack later this week. If nothing shows I can check Genesis Outreach Pro Theme.

I’m kind of busy so please be patient. What other plugins do you use?
Is the theme tweaked with code?

Odd, something is intermittent then, because the weekend retreat one was not working when I posted the link earlier. Some of the sermons have had an image come through.

We use a lot of plugins. Multisite is active, so your plugin is running on both srcmarion.org and sermons.srcmarion.org. Sermons.srcmarion.org should use this image: https://sermons.srcmarion.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2015/10/PlayButton.png, it is configured in Media Settings.

Most of those enable shortcodes in articles, I think the only ones that affect featured image are the theme and Jetpack. I think we can deactivate Simple Social Icons since we get most of the same functionality from Jetpack.

If Genesis isn’t compatible with your plugin, I can accept that and try the Genesis specific plugin. (Has more bells and whistles I don’t need, but can probably make it work.)

It does work with Genesis. I have it running on multiple websites. Like I said I strongly suspect it is a jetpack issue.

Jetpack is the one suggesting images and text to FB.

One thing to keep in mind is how FB handles this.
It will only check this once per share.
Once it is on FB and you change the image it will still show the old image.

PS could you add a dummy image to the podcast post. Save. Then remove the image. Save.
Then check again.

I have temporarily enabled featured image in the theme, so you can see that it is getting set.

Thank-you for taking the time to look into this.

I could look for support from Jetpack if you think the issue is over there, but their feature does work with manually set featured images.

I’m not sure how much Jetpack will help. I’ll test it later this week.
