Image of the Day

  • Hi, I’m trying to put a image of the day box in my sidebar that can fetch images and descriptions from a folder on my server. I tried looking for a widget that could do this, but didnt have any luck. I also tried looking for some code that I could use, but nothing I found seems to work with word press.

    Does anyone out there know of anything I can do to make this happen?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    unfortunately that plug-in doesnt seem to have a setting for specific days ??

    OK how about taking another route around the problem.

    Set up a new post category called something like ‘dailypic’ and exclude it from showing in your main loop, category & archive widgets etc.

    Make a new post for each day assigned to that category as a scheduled post, and set each one to be published at midnight. Either put just the pic in as the content or use the WP 2.9 thumbnail feature.

    Then put a widget in the sidebar to display the latest thumbnail of the last post for that category only. – your image of the day!

    How does that sound? Anyone else have any ideas for streamlining this for enero30 – or any reason why it might not work?

    Thats actually a nice and straight forward idea. I’ll pass the idea along to the “committee” and see if they would be down for a book of the day post along with the box. It all hinges on them. Hope they go for it, as this would save me a lot of headache.

    Great idea! but instead of assigning a category I would suggest a custom field. You will be able to create a special loop just for posts with a certain custom field.

    This is so you can assign a more descriptive category to your images then you wouldn’t have to assign it on more than one.

    It would also help if in case you would be using a category based permalink structure.
