    Hi,

I decided to give Image Optimization a try. I followed the first step and it appears that 9 images have been successfully optimized (webp version is also enabled) – please see https://prntscr.com/mrzxot.

Ok, now what? I don’t see these optimized pictures in my Media Library.

Do I need to do anything else in order to appear there (along with a custom column for choosing which version I want to be displayed for users) ?

    Thank you,

    Mike

Well the images are just requested but not finished yet. Once its finished, you will see a pull button. After you pulled them back, you will be able to see that column in Media library.

    Welcome to LSCWP.

Oh, I see. Thank you, @hailite.

Do you happen to know how long does it usually take to optimize them? I mean, they’re only 9 images (which were previously optimized before being uploaded, thus being small-sized already) and the request was made 90-100 minutes ago. I was sincerely expecting to be ready in maybe…3-5 minutes? ??

I don’t actually mind it that much, I just want to know what I can expect for when I decide to optimize all of my pics (if satisfied with the initial result for the 9 images).

    Thanks.

Usually even couple hundreds of images will be fast proceeded. When you refresh the optimization page, if you didn’t see a pull button, try to click the refresh button beside of Optimization Summary title to update your status.

I did that already, several times. Did it again now. Still nothing.

Please give a report number. It shouldn’t be that long unless it meets some issues .

Please note that I’m trying the image optimization on my staging site (although it’s the same report number as for the live one).

There is no image optimization request record on that. Prolly it’s bcos you copied DB data directly. The image optimization need to callback to notify your WP when its done. So the API key is per domain. Different WP domain will result in different API key.

Please try to reset IAPI key.

Ok, I just requested optimization from my live domain and see how that goes. I can see that the credits used for the staging remain used also in live :).

I guess I don’t have to reset IAPI key anymore, right?

Better to try that first. Feel free to do. Won’t hurt.

Also your plugin version better to keep up-to-date.

Yep, it worked within minutes. No reset needed.

I must say that I am quite satisfied :D. Since Lossy is too poor in terms of visual quality for me, I enabled Losslessly and, frankly, I wasn’t expecting much difference in size reduction (since my pics are already Lossless optimized). But there was. And the webp version is crazy (massive reduction with barely any difference in quality).

    Thanks for your help, @hailite.

You are most welcome. WebP is nice indeed.

I will mark this as resolved.

    Um…there’s one tiny issue.

The WP generated sized pics are all three. But the original one is only .jpg and .webp. Where’s the .bk?

    Example:

    picture300x400.bk.jpg
    picture300x400.jpg
    picture300x400.webp

BUT the original one is only:

    picture.jpg and
    picture.webp

the picture.bk.jpg is nowhere to be found in uploads folder.

    (@hailite)

If it failed to optimize, it won’t replace, thus it’s not necessary to generate .bk

    Got it. Thank you!

Not ok. All images for 6-7 of my products are completely gone.

Imean, not exactly gone, but blank.

Later edit: all deleted pics have been uploaded in November 2018.

Why did this happen and how do I prevent future issues like this?
