Image Optimizations with Real Cron Job
-
We have confirmed with SiteGround Support that SG Optimizer’s Image Optimization engine is not fully compatible with websites that are running with a Real Cron Job (versus the plugin’s WordPress Cron requirement).
Issue:
When we switched to a Real Cron Job, we got an endless “spinning wheel” after we initiated the image optimization engine. Still running (has been for 4 hours, we don’t have more than 50 images).
Fortunately, we had already optimized our images under the native WordPress Cron that the plugin requires, so our stored images remained optimized.
Fix:
From SiteGround Support:
It appears that indeed there is an issue currently, as I was able to find more information related to the real cron job and the image optimization, however, as far as I see our developers are already informed, aware and working on resolving the problem for you.
… as soon as the issue is resolved a new version of our plugin will be pushed and after the upgrade to it the issue should disappear.
Looking forward to this fix. Also, would like to recommend that SiteGround update article below to reflect the issue and fix:
