• I put this plug in couple years ago (EWW) as recommended by some people, but my hoster says after all, may not need. Honestly, don’t really know what it does or how works. Just been an element of trust to have it there. I’m a photographer, I reduce all my images to to about 200k. So is this plug in needed? I’m trying to reduce plug ins thanks.

    You decide,
you can use plugins or other tools (like shell scripts calling leanify for example directly)
or you can ignore pageinsight/gtmetrix recommendations for images.
    Its up to you, completely.

Thanks Yui, did not understand a single word. Hopefully someone else can reply.

It really depends on several factors but if you already compress your images and no one else uploads images to your website, then you might not need an image optimizer plugin.
