• I have set up a make.com automation that pulls imagery and content from GenAI and creates a post to pull it into WordPress. The draft posts look perfect with one exception – the featured image for each new draft post over-rides all of the other featured images of the unpublished drafts. I.e. if I upload five new drafts the featured image of the last draft will over-ride the featured image of posts 1 to 4. I have removed all auto-optimisations for imagery that my re-Smush plug-in is running opting now to optimise images once per week, but I didn’t help.

By “drafts”, I think you’re actually referring to “revisions” of the same post? The assigned featured image is independent of revisions, only the latest revision manages what featured image is assigned to that post, regardless of which revision you might look at.

OTOH, if you had an actual draft of various posts, each should manage its own featured image independent from the other posts. Each post can have multiple revisions, but it can only have one status at a time, “draft” being one of the possible statuses.

There’s likely a way to manage different featured images with each revision, but it’s not default behavior. You’d need some custom coding to do this.
