• Images post to my WordPress blog are about a quarter of a stop darker than those on my computer…I posted jpeg images processed by Adobe Photoshop CS5… Also the color is different, slightly less vibrant and saturated than my jpeg images… Another Photographer I know lightens her images about .20 to .25 of a stop when posting images on her WordPress blog. My question is why are images posted on my WordPress blog slightly underexposed and less saturated than the original images on my computer?

Probably the image rendering on your server… I seem to recall this coming up before, and it has to do with the dynamic reduction of quality when uploaded… Is the unaltered (i.e. non-resized) image also color shifted?

Thank you for your response… I checked the large file size images that I posted on my blog… the difference are subtle… only slightly darker….and with color a little more muted. My last image of Yosemite falls is pretty close in color, but just dosen’t have the same pop or luminsity… I guess its something that I am going to have to life with. Some of my smaller image than that have been reduced through wordpress image processor are a litte dark anyway…

My blog is https://www.brucefinocchio.wordpress.com if you want to look at the images yourself…

    Thanks again for your time…

Yeah, it’s the processing of the image via either GD or ImageMagik, depending on which your server uses. Basically – If you upload via the browser, it uses a tool (GD, ImageMagik, etc) to parse the image and upload it correctly. When it does this, it ‘looses’ quality.
