Image quality in displayed gallery

    It seems the image quality has totally been changed when rendered in the displayed gallery.
    Rather than render the images smaller, it seems to be doing something with the overall quality of the images. Any ideas? These are images 600px X XXX or so, so not tiny, and not super large either.
