You can search all the pictures on your site, or content of a specific URL template, if you can configure Nextgen to publicate galleries on a specific URL. You can set the URL template to search in https://cse.google.com in “Setup” menu / “Sites to search” section.
The image results can be seen on the images tab of result set, it is similar to Google.com image results.

so I have nextgen publishing images to a distinct URL but I am still getting no results on the search.

Can you explain what you mean by this “if you can configure Nextgen to publicate galleries on a specific URL.” I think this may be my issue.

    Thanks!

Google can search for the content of a site (e.g. https://yoursite.com) or a specific sub URL (e.g https://yoursite.com/yourgalleries)

So if you want to search ONLY Nextgen gallery images, you can have a URL for this specific reason (similar to the example above) to set it Google CSE admin panel.

But I suggest you to use the Google search for your whole site, without only Nextgen image search, and set your whole domain: https://yoursite.com

You have mentioned that you have no search results.
Please check if your site is indexed by Google, and if everithing is set according this documentation:
