• When I add an image to my server, I am sure to keep it small (well under 50KB). Once I add an image to my site via Add from Server, the images WP library renders are larger. If I upload via WP then they are smaller.

    Examples:

    Add from Server:
    image 600×399 = 41KB
    image 481×328 = 50KB

    WP Media:
    image 600×399 = 38KB
    image 493×329 = 18KB

Could you tell me why this is? Am I doing something wrong? Or did I miss a setting in your plugin? Thanks in Advance!

Add From server simply passes it directly to WordPress’s media functions, no processing is done by the plugin, it’s left up to WordPress.

As for why WordPress is creating differently sized images, I don’t know and can’t explain that (unless it’s a different server, in which case it’s server dependant).

Thanks for the reply Dion! I think I know why this is happening.

WooThemes updated their theme Framework to 6.x and I think that is not playing nicely with Add from Server now. I’m going to try reverting back to the old Framework 5.x tomorrow and see if that fixes the issues.

I used to only have 4 different sized images of one on my server. Now when I upload via Add from Server it gives me 7! But the worst part is all the different sizes of my original now carry a 1 after the file name. ie. image.jpg = image1.jpg, image1-90×90.jpg, image1-150×150.jpg etc. Grrrrrrr!!!

I’ll report back my findings once I know something definitive. Thanks!

Well changing the framework didn’t help. When I uploaded images via plugin, it added a copy of the original and a 1 was added to all versions on my server. So I restored my entire site/database back to before this was all happening, still same issue.

When I add Media via WP, all is normal. I’m at a loss as to why this is happening now or what to try next… Any suggestions? Thanks!

FYI… Your plugin works fine on my site running WP 3.8.4, but not now on 3.9.2 for whatever reason. ?? BTW, both sites run on the same web host account/server.
