All of the items on this page were “bound” to the container and showed up as squares until today I tried adding Harpy Peppers. It was a copy of the previous widget but showed full size once it was published. Then I tried again by copying Gutay Design and this time it resized both widgets to show a full photo. Can you tell me why this is happening all of a sudden? Never had this problem when updating the page. I usually just copy the previous widget and add a new hyperlink and image and it shows up as a cropped square.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris

Thanks for that further feedback and plugin information. Please, send us an export of the page. You can do that from Layouts > Import/Export > Download Layout. Please, upload the JSON file to WeTransfer or any online location and send us the link. I’ll take a look when I’m online tomorrow at GMT+2.

    Thanks again.

    Andrew,

How do I access the top-level “Layouts” section that you mention above? Is that inside cPanel or inside WordPress?

When I go to “Layouts” in the WooCommerce Storefront Customizer, it just shows two options for column layouts, but no Import/Export or Download options to speak of.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris

When editing the page in question within the Page Builder interface you should see a Layouts Button.

I’ll be online again tomorrow. I’m sure we can get to the bottom of this.

    Chat then. Thanks.

    Hi Chris

I hope your weekend is going well. I’ve briefed Alex here at SiteOrigin on your case. We’ll take a deeper look once we receive the page layout JSON file. Chat further then.

    Cheers

    Hi Andrew,

I apologize for the severe delay. These last 3 weeks have been extremely busy. I’ve finally downloaded the JSON file and I’m attaching a WeTransfer link here below:

As a reminder, this is the Page Layout for https://www.shopcarolina.org/vendors

Let me know if you need any further information in order to help solve this issue.

    Best regards,

The image size being used is “shop_catalog.” Themes or plugins can add image sizes; they can also be removed if the theme or plugin that added the given size is removed.

Please, try editing an Image Widget that is not sizing correctly and check the Image Size setting. Is there a Shop Catalog option available?

    Hi Andrew,

That name does sound familiar but unfortunately it’s no longer available in the Image Size dropdown menu for SiteOrigin images.

With a quick search I can see that other WooCommerce users have mentioned this size on some support forums but I have no idea why it’s gone now. Any idea on how to bring that back or perhaps replicate the settings that it provided?

There’s a size called “Woosq” that looks very similar on my desktop site, but doesn’t show up the same in mobile view. It’s larger, with less margin around the edges. I’ve updated the site publicly so you can see what I mean if you check it again now. I’ll keep looking into the issue this weekend,

You could use the methods we’ve discussed to create your own image size as required. You’ll need to regenerate thumbnails after creating a new image size.

Harpy Peppers is displaying at 460 x 460, and the image below is displaying at 324 x 324. That’s the difference on mobile.

    Hi Andrew,

When we used the Custom Image Sizes plugin from DraftPress, it didn’t work on landscape photos. When we selected hard crop, it would crop the portrait photos to a square, but not the landscape photos.

This issue never occurs with the “Shop Catalog” size that the other widgets are using. They are always a perfect square, no matter what the original photo shape was.

So I’m still unsure how to replicate the settings that appear to be missing, now that “Shop Catalog” is no longer available.

    Hi Chris

    Thanks for the update.

This is perhaps a question you can send to DraftPress. At the moment, all I can think to check is that you’ve regenerated thumbnails after creating a new image size.

If you’d like to remove the SO Image Widget from testing to confirm a given result, you can perhaps create a test page and use the Classic Editor to insert an image via the Add Media button.

    Andrew,

Perhaps I misunderstood what you were saying the first time. What exactly do you mean by regenerating the thumbnails?

I assumed you meant cropping the images to a square manually (prior to upload), or something similar.

    Could you clarify?

    Hi Chris

After creating a new image size, you can check to see if the plugin you’re using has the option to regenerate thumbnails.

Here is a bit more info on the topic: https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails-new-image-sizes-wordpress/.
