Image slider dilemmas

I’m having trouble customizing an image slider on my home page. I’m working with the most current Atahualpa theme, but I have no coding experience. I’ve become very familiar with all of the theme features, but customizing an image slider has caused me trouble. I have tried figuring it out the last 5 days to no avail. I have installed over 10 sliders at different times with no success. I am providing an example of what I’m looking for below. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
