Image thumbnail file sizes much larger than the original file
-
Hoping someone can help with this.
When uploading images, the thumbnails that are created (apart from the very smallest) are much larger in filesize than the original that is uploaded.
For example.
testforoptimisation1-150×150.png 47kb
testforoptimisation1-180×180.png 65kb
testforoptimisation1-300×239.png 151kb
testforoptimisation1-300×300.png 179kb
testforoptimisation1-600×600.png 646kbthe original of this image has dimensions 891×709 and is only 56kb
I’ve tried various options to get them to reduce, regenerating thumbnails, optimising with EWWW, but they resolutely refuse to reduce to a ‘sensible’ size.
The only option I’ve found that works is to create them all offline then upload & replace the ones created by the system via FTP, but surely there must be a way to have the system do it?
What am I missing?
