• Hello,

Suddenly all image thumbnails are missing from our website home page (allinone-india.com). But if you open a post/article to read, the featured image is seen there without any issues.

The problem is seen only in Chrome browser, where image is replaced by a blank pink square. In firefox and IE there is no problem, thumbnails are seen. Also, when the site homepage is viewed using chrome on an android mobile or tablet, or in iphone/ipad, there is no problem with missing images!!

Strangely, this problem is NOT seen by all users or visitors, for example I see all image thumbnails just fine but 2 other admins and some of the visitors reported seeing blank pink boxes in chrome. All this started suddenly. Everything was fine one day, and next day some people see pink squares and no images!

To resolve this strange issue, I tried the following, but none of it made any difference:
    1. Cleared all cache & cookies in the browser where pink squares are seen instead of images.
    2. Cleared all cache from website (using WP Fastest Cache plugin)
    3. Deactivated Autoptimize plugin (reactivated it later since it did not solve the problem, but not having it on slowed down the site by few seconds)
    4. Disabled Chrome extension for 360 antivirus program

Tried couple other suggestions from other forums (like changing some registry entry, etc) , but no improvement so far.

Incidentally, i posted on the wordpress.com forum by mistake and user there had sent this reply (with a note to post in this forum for further help). This is his reply:

“I see the pink boxes in Chrome, too. I noticed the thumbnails (in Firefox) have a zoom effect. If that effect is caused by an NPAPI-based plugin, it may account for the problem because Chrome stopped supporting that with version 45: https://java.com/en/download/faq/chrome.xml”

I checked that i am using chrome version 44 and another admin is using chrome version 45, so looks like this could be a problem. But how to fix this issue now that a potential problem is identified?!

Any ideas on steps for fixing this problem would be much appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

The website I need help with is: allinone-india.com.
Theme used is: KAMI Magazine theme

  • You need to determine it it is a theme issue (ie some part of the theme using code that is not supported in chrome v45) or a plugin issue.

If you can’t/don’t want to test this on your production site, you should create a play site to experiment on.

Once you determine if it is theme or plugin related, then contact the author about the issue

or find a new theme/plugin to replcas the one that is causing the problem.
