Image thumbnails not visible in WP 3.5

    I ran WP for testing on my PC by using XAMPP until I was sure that I can design my new website as I want it to. After that, I installed a fresh WP version on a hosted server and got the whole thing running. So far so good. As I started to build my image galleries, I came across a huge issue: When photos are uploaded to WP, the thumbnails are not shown, neither in the media gallery nor in a post. However, if one clicks on the thumbnail, the lightbox appears and the photo is displayed correctly. The only thing that is displayed on the screen is a blue box with a question mark.

    I didn’t have this problem when I ran WP on my PC with XAMPP.

    Anybody got a hot tip on how to solve this / make the thumbnails appear?
