Our Server was running PHP 5.3 – after an upgrade to PHP 5.5 it solved all errors.

Hi, the same problem, but how to upgrade to php 5.5?? Everything within my WP installation is up to date!

solved it: change php version on your hosting server!

    Hi,

Same problem. Update to php 5.5 and the problems persists.

    Anything additional?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Have check the errors on server and it gives me several times:

[Thu May 07 22:12:51 2015] [crit] [client 88.210.65.100] (13)Permission denied: /home/marocluxurytrave/public_html/wp-content/uploads/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable, referer: https://marocluxurytravel.com/

Under wp-content/uploads i’ve not any .htacess file it is suppose to?

    Thanks

I updated to 4.2.2 was able to get on, post, pictures, out-bound, etc, and used the Easy-Recipe Plus program, but when I saved, previewed and returned to edit, I could not open to edit, change pictures or open the Easy-Recipe Plus or add addition copy.

    Hi,

everything is working now. I’ve just change the permission of wp-content/uploads to 755.

So, if anyone with this issue:

    Update PHP to PHP 5.5
Change permissions of wp-content/uploads to 755. If need it.

    same thing happening here,

permissions for wp-content at 755, still fails
tried twentyfifteen theme with no plugins, still fails
php 5.5 and 5.6, both fail
increased memory to 256mb, still fails
increased upload size to 64mb, , still fails

used to get some longer, fatal error or something like that, now I just get an http error.

    any more ideas?

I don’t know why, but installing the Force Regenerate Thumbnails fixed the issue for me. It was suggested on a support web forum for inmotion hosting.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/view/plugin-reviews/force-regenerate-thumbnails

The Force Regenerate Thumbnails plugin did not work. I have downloaded a fresh copy of wordpress, created a new DB, changed all permissions even to 777, chown on my host to include my ftp owner as the owner of both the wp-config and uploads folder, as well as the months within it, changed (from settings > media) to not divide uploads into date folders, modified (extensively) php.ini, wp-config.php etc etc etc for weeks now.

Nothing helps. I am surprised that with the increasing posts around the internet in the last few days alone, let alone in the past months, that WP has not addressed this officially.

This also happens on my local server on both windows running XAMPP and OS X with MAMP Pro.

The ONLY client sites where this does not happen is wp 4.05 and prior!!!! very very angry. This should be able to work out-of-the-box without us developers having to try and troubleshoot this issue or use plug-ins by third party developers. I have been trying to fix this for weeks for many of my clients, and to no avail. I am losing business and time and money, as many of images required to be uploaded by my clients I have to do myself via FTP, and either provide the clients with the URL or use that URL somewhere in post etc. This is a very messy process which basically voids the point of having WordPress really. Huge disappointment after years of having solely dedicated to WordPress, and now Joomla is seeming as a better option in one client project – which I never thought i would resort to!!!

I have had the same problem with my images since 4.2.2. I have lost all my word press pages because I erased all of them trying to solve this problem. I have used several themes, and in the media always get problems.

I am not an expert so how can i solve this?

Uncheck the box “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” under SETTINGS > MEDIA > “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders”

That will fix the upload issue!

    @mulkins2013 your solution didn’t work

None of the solution discussed here worked for me.
    It’s really crazy.

I’ll pray for next WP update – hopefully it’ll fix this issue. Won’t it?
    When will be the release?

Just to know: I’m VERY sad.

I have been dealing with my host. this does not get replicated on a local host environment such as mamp/(pro) on os x or xampp on windows.

I use a shared hosting package with all of my hosts, and they advise that it is an issue with the php memory being exceeded, which is common on shared hosts.

One solution, as advised by them (obviously), is to upgrade my package since my contracts cannot allow for php/cgi memory increase.

Having said that, I have tried disabling JetPack plugin on one of my hosts, and it allowed me to upload a rather large image (over 3500 pixels wide, and under 1mb).

Hope this little bit of information helps anyone.

I still think WP should address this in their next update since I know there are many of us who sign up to shared hosting packages or plans.
