• I’ve just installed 2.0.2 onto my host and, with the exception of a couple of niggles, it seems OK. However, one of the problems I have is that it’s imperative that I and a couple of other users are able to include images at the time that they compose posts and pages. I know there are some plugins that claim to facilitate this (I haven’t tried yet) but at the moment I’m struggling to get v2.0.2 to even consider the job of uploading pre-prepared (in Photoshop) images to a designated folder on my server. They just won’t go no matter how much I try.

I’ve trawled the support/info docs with a fine toothcomb, and I’ve CHMODded everything that should be CHMODded (I have to say I’m very nervous about leaving several pages open on 777, but let’s get it going first, hey!) but still no luck.

The important thing is neither I nor other users should have to rely on FTP to upload images – it’s just too cumbersome for my other users and I don’t like the idea security-wise either). We want to be able to write and submit news stories on the move, anyhow.

I know 2.0.2 is very new, but does anybody have any suggestions? It could well be that I’m doing something stupidly wrong, but I’ve successfully managed phpBB forums for 4 years now on the same server with no such problems, so I’m guessing that WP2 is making things harder than perhaps they should be?

Any help & advice gratefully received!

You don’t say what the error is though – what do you see?

I can’t replicate the error message at the moment because I’ve installed a plugin (folisofo-old-style-upload) that will do this reasonable well. However, it’s the message that questions whether the correct permissions have been set – which clearly they have.

I’ll persevere with this alternate hack until such time as WP 2.0.2 gains an update with (we hope) the appropriate patches. Cheers.

Hey Podz – my apologies. It was your suggestion of the plugin that I’ve now tried. Thanx!
