Image Upload – “Specified file failed upload test.”
-
Every time I upload an image using the new media popup I get this error but the image still appears in the gallery and can be used.
What does the error mean?
-
I did the fix: https://trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/6443
but now when I try to upload an image, it says “Crunching” and then I get an error: “An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.”
The image is not loaded. Any thoughts?
For those of you that aren’t seeing the Flash media uploader, deactivate all your plugins and reactivate them one by one to see if it makes a difference. The “post template” plugin I had installed was completely messing with the media uploader, but now I can upload/delete images and video just fine.
chrisjacobson !
System :XP SP2, Firefox 2.0.0.13
I can upload images fine, but once uploaded I can’t actually insert them into a post. I just get a blank screen after clicking “insert into post”.
Also I cant click on “show” thing
I am able to browse through them in the media library if I go into it through the dashboard… everything seems fine. once I click insert I get a blank screen.I’ve cleared the cache. So far no luck and I’m unable to get images into my posts. :((((((((((((((((((
AFTER READ chrisjacobson POST just notice something!!!!
“when i saw ur comment about… (the “post template” plugin I had installed was completely messing with the media uploader, but now I can upload/delete images and video just fine)
now i can use the “Show” thing again, (the problem was the “templete post plugin” but the blank-white screen still ??
Some one help me out plz ! :((((((((((
I tried all the fixes above with Ie7 and I am still having the issure as described. Any ideas?
Edited:
I am in the process of moving to a new server and all the DNS has not completely propogated yet. I had to upload the patch to both my new AND old server for it to work properly in IE7. Whew!
Hi, I tried the 2commas patch and it worked fine on my computer with the flash uploader, but on my client’s computer using the same blog he is still having all the errors! Does this patch work for IE6? I think his computer is using the non-flash uploader, but I’m not sure.
I’m using the FireFox here, and like everyone here it’s giving me the “Specified file failed upload test” error message. What’s funny, is that I was uploading and seeing the pictures fine yesterday, and then this happened.
Hi.
I had 2 different problems with WP 2.5 image-upload on IE7 (IE 7.0.5730.11) On Firefox (2.0.0.14) it works perfectly. The first problem was a permission thing and was solved with chmod 755 on upload folder and the .htaccess mod_security hack.
But I’m stuck with the second one for the last 3 days!
Problem: When I upload the image file, I get an error message and the image doesn’t crunch.
BUT it still creates the 3-size files on upload directory.
Unfortunatelly, when I click on gallery or media library, the list only shows the image filename. I can’t see any thumbnail. Also, the “show” link is dead. On click, the browser register a javascript error in wp-admin/media-upload.php. The result: I can’t include any image on posts.I’ve tried everything… all possible fixes. I don’t have plugins installed, just plain WP.
- downloaded WP 2.5 and installed again
- applied the 2-commas IE7 patch (ticket/6443)
- downloaded and replaced swfupload files
- upgraded the flash installed on IE (and FF)
- tried all combination of the options on “settings > misc”
- cleared cache, closed browser, restarted the computer several times after each change.
Firefox is fine for me. But the blog/site have a lot of users and they use IE. Also… the “No-Flash-Uploader” didn’t work…
I don’t know what to do.
I too receive the error “specified file failed upload test”.
In IE7
I receive this error and the picture will not show despite the image successfully being listed in the media gallery. However when trying to load the image to place it into a post nothing happens and I just receive a script error. In Firefox
Despite still receiving the “upload test” error, this works as it should and allows me to insert an image into the post.I’ve tried both the .htaccess solution and made the changes outlined in the bug tracker but to no avail, the problem persists.
Unfortunately I can’t add anything more to it than that and desparately await a fix.
Does anybody know if this is fixed in WP 2.5.1?
Does anybody know if this is fixed in WP 2.5.1?
yes, it is.
Well with me it wasn’t fixed. Still the same problem, but not in all my blogs. Found a nice fix in another thread for firefox. Make sure the wordpresswebsite tab is the only tab in firefox. Close all other tabs. Want to know why, but it’s working.
But i want the old uploader backIt’s not fixed for me. I just uploaded WordPress through my web host – I assume it’s the most recent version – and I can’t upload any files.
I get that “http” error message someone mentioned.
So – with my heart in my mouth – I opened up the wp-admin/includes/media.php file. What a crowded jumble. No order
to it at all. But I looked through the mess and found onedebug: false
and it did not have a comma after it.
Next I opened wp-includes/js/swfupload/handlers.js and there
was no code in what was available for my view that remotely
resembled what the fix was. So I don’t know what’s up.I can’t fix this – I don’t have the technical know-how or
the courage to be going into these program files. I already
corrupted my blog beyond hope just trying to install a different
template and wound up uninstalling the whole thing and starting
over.Bottom line: this isn’t working for me. Everybody’s got a different
idea of what the fix might be. This is giving me an ulcer. So I went to blogger.
That works. No, I don’t have complete control over it – and
maybe not over content that I want to post for my business –
but at least I can upload a photo.Ah, one more thing – it’s not like I spent twenty minutes on trying to get this blog to work right. I spent the whole day. Ten hours trying one thing and then another, reading the forums – ENOUGH!
To be crystal clear, the version uploaded from WordPress.com – that has
different templates to choose from – I can upload photos in that, but I CAN’T DO ANYTHING WITH THEM. I can’t insert them in a post. They sit in the media file, unaccessible.Regarding the blog software that I uploaded to my website directly so I have a WordPress blog in “mydomain.com/blog” -I can’t upload photos in that at all.
The white upload box opens, I select my file for upload, I get a message that says it is “crunching” the data, but then that “http”
error message appears and a button that says “DISMISS” appears on
the upload box so that there is no other option except to abort the upload.I had the uploader problem… everything worked fine and the images uploaded into the upload folder BUT couldnt get images into posts. These 2 items fixed the problem:
1) htacces in website-root should contain:
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>2) chmod settings for uploads folder set at: 755
Cheers
