    Hi,

This is weird. I tried to edit the homepage on one of my sites, but kept getting a 404 error when I hit the update button. I narrowed the problem down to the img tags – take them out and it works fine.

Similar thing happens when I use the WP image uploader. Its fine upoading the file, but when I click the Insert button, I get a 404 page – within the uploader dialogue window.

I switched off all plugins (no change), then switched back to 2010 theme (no change), then replaced wp-admin folder (no change).

Then I checked the other WP installation on the account (same error). And I checked a WP on another account (same error). I then did a fresh WP install (same error). I’ve cleared chrome caches and now tried it again on a completely different machine (a PC rather than a mac).

The only think I can think it is is either something going on with my hosting company, or the javascript library as been nobbled.

Any ideas? I’m starting to have a real nightmare with this one!

Hah solved! If anyone else has this problem in future, check with your hosting company to see whether they’ve been tightening mod_security rules on their shared hosting platform.

Incidentally, my hosting company is Machine Networks (www.machinenetworks.co.uk). I reported the problem last night at 10:08pm, got a response by 10:19pm and had it all fixed by 11:00pm. How’s that for an absolutely fantastic service!
