Image Uploader Issues

I just installed WordPress 4.5.3 last week on our company’s self-hosted servers. I was having some issues getting images to show up in the template we purchased, and the template company’s support told me that the uploader I had on the installation was old. I’m not sure how this happened, I’m also not sure which files are the uploader. Is there a way I can update the uploader with new files without starting from scratch? Which files operate the uploader?

I’m also not 100% sure this is the problem. While my uploader does look and operate differently than it should, I was able to upload the images but they still didn’t show up on my site.
