This is the first time I’ve attempted to upload images since upgrading to 2.7, and it’s not working very well at all. I’ve tried using Firefox and IE, though Firefox is my standard choice.

First issue: When I click the image upload icon above the editor area, I get a warning that I am about to navigate away from the page. If I click OK, I definitely navigate away from the page to the uploader screen. This, in and of itself, seems like weird behavior.

Second Issue: When I upload images, I almost always get an HTTP Error at the top of the screen, and then I can’t change the settings of the image uploaded. When I view the image in the Media Library, it says that the width and height is 0x0. Though the image LOOKS like it uploaded correctly.

Third Issue: When I DO get an image uploaded, clicking “Insert into post” just goes to a blank page:

    /wp-admin/media-upload.php?type=image&tab=type&post_id=897

I have deleted and re-uploaded the wp-includes and wp-admin directories and files. I have disabled all my plugins. I’ve deleted the files in wp-content/uploads/js-cache.

With regards to the images not uploading properly, I will try resizing them before uploading, but that doesn’t explain the weird behavior of not being able to insert the working images into the post on which I’m working, nor does it explain the image uploader going to a new page, rather than appearing on top of the edit post page.

I’ve done searches on this topic, and nothing I’ve found seems to help, though I’m willing to try whatever people ask. I’m not an experienced PHP coder, but I have done tweaks in the past, etc.

    Thank you.

edit: Also, I’ve changed the theme back to the Default theme, in case my theme doesn’t work in 2.7, and that didn’t solve the “not opening in iFrame” issue.

edit again: Something else I noticed is that I got an iframe when I changed back to the default theme. So iframes are working elsewhere. Just trying to nail down why this isn’t working.

Ok, I didn’t find this solution in any of the image uploader threads I came across, but in one thread, someone pointed the questioner to enable Google Gears to see what file is causing problems. Well, I already had Google Gears enabled. So I decided to disable it, to see if it helped. It did. I re-enabled it, and it works again.

So, to anyone who has tried re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-include directories, changed themes, and done everything else that has been suggested in the sticky Image/Media Uploader Problems thread, try disabling and re-enabling Google Gears. It just might help!
