• Ever since 3.6.1 I have been unable to properly upload images to my website. Adding through the media library it loads to 100% then stalls at “crunching”. Adding a photo to a post gives me a fairly useless error message. I’m using Twenty-Eleven as the theme and haven’t changed anything since the upgrade from 3.6. This is getting frustrating as this has happened before.

  • Try re-installing the WP core files and theme… And, are your images very large filesize? Maybe need to be smaller, (could also be your hosting plan if you are on limited storage delete older files you dont need..)

Why would I need to reinstall it? It worked fine until the 3.6.1 “upgrade”. The file size is very small and my hosting plan isn’t the issue. I have more than sufficient space available.

By re-installing the theme, you will override/fix compromised files, that might have gotten damaged server side or due to edits done on your site. It will usually not delete any existing pages or image folders etc.. this might fix your problem, but hey, it’s your site, you can do what you like, right?

I’ve tried using other themes, shutting down any plugins, still no avail. Any more suggestions?

    Hi , looks serious..
    A. What was the Error message? (You mentioned: “Adding a photo to a post gives me a fairly useless error message.”)
    B. Do you have access to a backup database file that is older when everything still worked? (Some hosts have a database backup built in and they keep them for a while.. – check your hosting controlpanel for the BACKUPS Icon) Maybe you can “roll back” ?

I am not aware of a backup database. The error message did not give a number or reason, just that it was an error “An Error was Encountered while uploading the image” or something like that.

“An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.” That is the error message… rather useless. There doesn’t seem to be a backup database.

Hi sorry to hear you still have the image upload problem. Other than the advice before, there is nothing I could add. I installed the free BackupDraft plugin on all my sites and this makes sure there is always a backup of core files and database.
    Good luck.
