• I recently upgraded to WP 2.0, and it all works except for the direct image upload, which gives me the following error:

Unable to create directory /home/altehag/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2006/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I have set permissions on all directories to 777, but it doesn’t help. I also tried Per Soderlind’s imagemanager plugin, which also cannot write to server.

Is this definitely a host problem? And, if so, could someone let me know exactly what to tell them beyond these basic facts to get some help? I do believe I can use the image upload pointing to a web address for images I have already uploaded, but I would like to be able to upload images from hard drive directly if possible. By the way, I do have this same installation on another host and it works fine, but that is a new clean installation, not an upgrade, so I’m not sure if it could be related to something else.

    Thanks for the help!

  • I’m having the same problem. Since I am not an expert, much of what I find in support simply doesn’t make since. It appears that the upload should simply get the image from my computer and uplaod it to the correct directory on my host directory supposedly in the wp content directory. However, I get the above msg.

I can upload through FTP, but it would be easier for it to auto upload as advertised. If someone could create a step by step process for this it would be helpful.

On another note, documentation is hardly adequate to know what the various utilities do.

    Thanks!
