Image URL issues
-
I’m in the process of consolidating multisite sites into one main site. Our old multisite sites followed the subfolder format: domain.com/<cityname>
I’ve imported posts into the main site and everything went well with the exception of the images. So far, I’ve moved all the images into the wp-content folders on the main site. I’ve searched and replaced to update the new paths so that the images are not broken. The issue is not with getting the images to display properly in the site itself.
In the new site, I’ve created individual “home pages” for each city so that they original URLs: domain.com/<cityname> where <cityname> is now a page in WordPress.
My problem is:
I have several users who have built up substantial boards on Pinterest with our images. I would really like to maintain the path to the original images if possible.
The issue is that the path of our former images uses <cityname> in its convention:
domain.com/<cityname>/files/2012/10/filename.jpgBut because I have corresponding WP pages with the same name, I can’t simply created a folder in the root called “<cityname>” and call it a day.
I’ve put that exact file here:
domain.com/wp-content/images/<cityname-folder>/files/2012/10/I’ve noticed that
domain.com/<insertanyrandomcityname>/wp-content/images/<cityname-folder>/files/2012/10/filename.jpg… renders the same file no matter what you put into <insertanyrandomcityname>
So my questions are:
Is it possible to for me to go back to the original folder names?
If so, how?Thanks!
Christine
