  • Hi!

We looked at the source code of the URL and we can see Yoast is outputting the right og:image tag for use with WhatsApp. See image: https://ibb.co/Z6csX4v.

We are not sure why WhatsApp is deciding not to use that tag, even though Facebook is.

As Yoast is outputting the right tag we can only say to contact WhatsApp for more information. You may contact them here https://www.whatsapp.com/contact/?subject=messenger.

Hello, ok and why does LinkedIn also not take the author and the publication date?

@celediaztristan We checked on the page but are not seeing Open Graph metadata output for this. Facebook does allow for author tags to be output and we have more information on this here: https://yoast.com/help/facebook-author-tags/

Hello, I was referring to the tag author and date in linkedin that says it cannot find it.https://ibb.co/rcc4vFR

About whatsapp, they tell me this and I don’t know what is wrong if “og” is correct.

    Hi @celediaztristan,

We checked on the issues that you mentioned below:

    Whatsapp image:
This is a frustrating problem to try to solve since it isn’t due to Yoast SEO’s og:image settings. However, like the author of the recommended post, you can try changing the Open Graph image size, dimensions, orientation, or trying a different image to see if that solves the problem.

In the past, it was recommended that the image needed to be under 300kb and not larger than 400x400px.

    No author found
This meta tag will not appear if you haven’t set a profile URL for Facebook. Can you confirm that you have one set? We have a guide to adding it here: How to add Facebook author tags.

LinkedIn caches the results of the Post Inspector, so it may take a few days before any changes you make to your posts or site settings are updated.

    No publication date found
We see that Yoast SEO is outputting the correct information in the article:published_time and article:modified_time meta tags, so it looks like LinkedIn doesn’t support the Open Graph standards for this field.

We tested sharing the link and it didn’t prevent the link from being shared on LinkedIn, so this isn’t a required value.

    We hope this helps.

Okay. On the image I will try to reduce the weight but it is unthinkable that the size is 400×400 (1: 1) since in the visualization of social networks it is 16: 9. WhatsApp should adjust it, as it usually does. But thanks for your answers.

    Hi,

Since WhatsApp is primarily a messaging app, perhaps it also makes sense that their images for social sharing would follow a square aspect ratio.

If you try to modify the dimensions and file size (to be under 300 kb), this might help fix the issue and show the image when sharing on WhatsApp.
