Image widget sugestions?

Hi people,
Can anyone suggest a nice looking, controllable gallery widget? I need to have either 1 or 2 columns, control the size of images and borders and also link the images to urls.
I need to create a sidebar navigation area using vertical images as buttons .
If not, does anyone know how to point thumb images in the nextgen widget to urls instead of opening the main images.

Sorry if this sounds a bit simple but I’m very new at this and I’d really appreciate the pointers.
