• Hi,

I posted this not long ago but have since learned that there’s a word for the image I was having problems with, so I’ve edited this post accordingly (that’s all that’s changed. Problem is still the same)…

I’m new to WordPress (I know html, but that’s about it) and I’ve recently started helping a friend update their wordpress blog, although now I’m a bit stuck.

My friend has asked if I can put a page in so people can go to it and get a code for an image (their “chiclet” – is that what it’s called?) and copy and paste it to their own site so it shows up. I thought it would be fairly simple like it is with html, but I’m coming up with some problems.

I’ve added the page, uploaded the chiclet, and written the code and they can all be found here:

    https://www.makeeshabyl.com.au/index.php/link-to-me/

However when I try and add the code to a different site by copy and pasting, it won’t let me, and the image shows up as missing and the link won’t work. It seems to be adding the domain of the site it’s been pasted onto infront of the url (eg. If I was to add it to google, the url of the image seems to change to https://www.google.com/”https://www.makeeshabyl.com.au/wp-content/uploads/inkspirations.gif” )

The code is all fine in the html – it doesn’t change the copied and pasted section, it’s just when I try to use it, it doesn’t work.

I hope this has all made sense – if not just let me know and I can try to clear it up.

Also, I’m not sure what version of wordpress it is, but it has a message that says it can be updated to version 2.7.1 so I’m guessing it’s earlier than that.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

  • Not sure… I was able to copy it and paste in a blank document which I saved to my desktop. When I opened this file in my web browser – everything seemed to work fine. I was even able to put it on my MySpace profile without a problem…

The problem seems like it has to do with google’s filtering of your content. A few questions:

    • Where did you post it on goolge?
    • Are you able to post other images there like this one?
    • Can you provide a link?
    • Have you tried to use the code on a page other than Google?
