I updated to 3.5.1 the other day and since then no images that I’ve uploaded have been showing on my site (https://st-eutychus.com). They also return a 404 error when you go to the image link directly, don’t show in the gallery when uploading, and when I have a look at the Chrome console I get an error message like:

“Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) https://st-eutychus.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/20percenttime.jpg”

I’ve had a scratch around the forums and most similar issues seem to be .htaccess/permalink related.

So I’ve manually recreated my .htaccess file using a “wordpress best practice” sample I found on the interwebs, then I cleared my .htaccess file and had WordPress recreate one by playing with my permalink settings. I’ve deactivated all my plugins…. but all to no avail.

Other sites on my server auto updated (I’m with dreamhost), and have no dramas. This one is a manual install.

What am I missing? What should I do?

Solved this myself – there was a new .htaccess in my uploads folder that had “deny from all” written in it, and nothing else. It’s gone. Now my images are back.
