    Hey guys and gals,

I am a photographer and I have a wordpress site. More and more I’ve been noticing how dull and faded images turn out when I upload them to my wordpress. Before people jump to the conclusion that is how I compress them and yada yada… I would like to point out that I upload the exact same JPEG to 5 or so photo sites and the WordPress one is the only one that turns out faded. It’s like all the reds, yellows and oranges turn out grey/brown. I spoke to another photographer friend of mine and he is stressed about the exact same issue. I feel like until I sought it out I don’t want to send people to my photography website as I dont feel the images give a true representation of what I made….

Let me give you examples…. So here is the image on my wordpress

    https://www.lukezeme.com/gallery/sunrise-at-the-gap-bluff/#0

Then the EXACT SAME IMAGE uploaded to smugmug, a photo hosting site.

I use sRGB colour, colour calibrated photo monitor and loads of other colour techniques. I even print lots of my images with them turning out like I see them in Photoshop and like the 2nd example I posted here from Smugmug.

What could be the issued with WordPress making the images all muggy brown like that ???

  • They aren’t the exact same image. One has a logo in the corner, and each image is a different size. If you took the exact same jpeg and uploaded it to both sites, then it would be interesting to see if they really do look different?

Thanks anyways Dave… I’ve managed to work out the issue.

Even if I did upload the exact same size etc. thats not the issue with wordpress. What we as Photographers have to do is make a separate file for wordpress-

In Photoshop I have to File > Save For Web

File > Save will always end up with a muggy image for photographers, where colours are much more important to us than designers.
