Recently, I have noticed that my images are not showing up on some or most (all?) of my new posts.

I attach the image to the post when I create and queue it up, but when the post is published, the image is replaced by a question mark (?) missing image icon.

When I go into Edit Post mode, the image shows up in the post text field as expected, but when I click the Edit Image icon on the image, the image is once again replaced by a missing image icon.

I can usually fix the problem by deleting the image and re-uploading it, but I don’t know why this is happening. This didn’t use to happen.

I’m afraid that when I was learning about WordPress and exploring the prefs I might have messed something up or broken something.

    My blog is at https://datinginfoforsingles.com/blog

Check your uploads path in Settings/Media.

    Hmm, it’s wp-content/uploads, the default.

Are you using images that have been optimised for web use – ie standard encoded jpg, .png or gif?

Yeah, I have all the images in a local folder on my hard drive to start out with–they are all of the same type, jpeg. The problem seemed to have started occurring after I started exploring the WordPress prefs. I don’t know what I did. Sometimes deleting the image from the post and re-attaching the same image will fix(?) the problem.
