Images are Stretched Pixelated When Uploading..

Hello…I’m new to wordpress and I’m trying to figure out why when uploading an image for my header, I’m getting a pixelated, stretched image. The resolution isn’t as sharp as it is in photoshop. Is there a specific reason why?..because it doesn’t do this when I’m coding outside of the WordPress environment.
