Images don’t appear in Media Library & Frontend

  • Hello,

    I’m having an issue that is weird and would like to get to the bottom of it.

    Some of my images in some products have suddenly disappeared from the frontend.

    To investigate this I went into the products editor and they didn’t appear there as well (variation image shows a blank image).

    Searching for the filenames in the media library shows them but with wordpress’ default.png thumbnail.

    Here’s the weird part, clicking on the image in the media library to edit it, loads it normally, and when going back and searching for it again, the correct thumbnail shows which also fixes the issue in the product editor and in the frontend.

    What might be causing this?

  • In the one screenshot, an additional column called “Smush” can be seen. You are obviously using a plugin that influences the output of the images. I would recommend that you deactivate it as a test. If the pictures are then visible, you will know what the cause was.

    If you still can’t see the images, check under Tools > Site Health to see if there are any abnormalities.

    It was the first thing I tried. Didn’t make any difference.

    And what do you say to that?
