images dont back up? they must be hosted somewhere??

I read the TEN step back-up directions. I am considering an upgrade and have read too many posts here about people losing everything. My blog is over a year in the making and I would be sick if it just poofed.

That being said, at the bottom of the back-up instructions is this text – “Remember – you have NOT backed up the files and folders – such as images – but all your posts and comments are now safe.”

Why not the images?? They are out there somewhere, correct? Does my ISP have them? Can I access them through my FTP program? Sorry for the ignorance, but I figured someone knows the exact answer to this!

My issue is that many of my images are one-time finds specific to a post and then I upload them to my blog and then throw them away. I didnt think I needed to save a gazillion images on my Mac that I will never use again.

I SUPPOSE that if I CANT access them somewhere to download an IMAGES file…then it would be possible to go back through my blog and save each image one by one. sigh…….
