Images existing twice on Server

    Hi,

    i’m impressed about your script, works perfectly for my purposes (private picture gallery).
    But i’ve realized that the originals of my images are always stored twice on the server. Is this the normal behavior?

    I have the pictures in the root of the new created gallery folder. then there’s another folder “.original” which has the same content as the root. That means i need twice the amount of space for my pictures.

    Not really a big problem, but i want to make sure that i’m not running in trouble one day.

    @pixel24,

    Thanks for getting in touch. It is actually normal to have two folders root and original. Root is storing the editing images, e.g. cropped, resized and etc. whereas original is saving the image in full size, so that you can undo the changes to get to the original image, as well as to allow downloading them to the user in original size.

    Thanks for quick reply.

    What means “cropped”, “resized”, edited? Does the Gallery allow the image manipulation?
    Currently i only see that the content of both folders is exactly the same.
    As i am not allowing any edit of the images and only show them, can i deleted the content in the root folder?

    Yes, our gallery allows editing images, cropping and etc, if you don’t need those options you can remove .original folder images keeping the folder. Thanks.

    I only want to show pictures, editing is not planned.
