Images for a post excerpt.

  • I want to have the following on my blog but am unsure as how to achieve it; I would like a list of my posts on my index page, each of these would have the excerpt displayed, but also an image, however this image would not be shown on the actual post so would infact be part of the exceprt (however excerpts do not allow images?) and example of this is xxlmag.com.

    Any advice would be great, thanks.

  • You could put the image into a custom field and then call the custom field for a post along with the excerpt on your page. Then when you are looking at the single post don’t call the custom field so the image doesn’t display.

    There is info in the codex about how to use custom fields.
